We
flew into Anchorage on Tuesday July 28th. On Wednesday
the 29th, we rented a car and drove south to Seward,
simply a beautiful drive. On the way back, we stopped at Fort
Richardson, and actually found the neighborhood where I lived in
1950-1954. Thursday, we toured Anchorage, and in Earthquake Park is
where we saw the moose. We began our tour on Friday by taking the
McKinley Explorer train to Denali National Park, about an eight hour
trip averaging 30 miles an hour. We took the Tundra Wildness Tour on
Saturday, a 35 mile trip into the park where we saw caribou, bears,
dall sheep, foxes, and other wild life. On Sunday August
2nd , we rode a Deluxe Motor Coach
(according to our driver) to Seward. We boarded the Veendam about
5:30 to begin our Holland America cruise. We went to Glacier Bay,
and stopped in Haines/Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. We arrived in Vancouver on
Sunday August 9th and flew back to Des Moines. Below are
about 225 pictures of the over 700 we took.
